Question:

Hi Danny,

If I haven’t spoken in tongues yet does that mean I’m going to hell? Is speaking in tongues and the being filled with the holy spirit two different things? Thank you so much if you could please answer these for me they have been weighing heavy on my heart! God bless you, your teaching has been such a blessing to me and my walk with God!

Answer:

Greetings,

Repentance of your sins and receiving the Holy Spirit are two distinct occurrences. This can happen simultaneously but this is usually not the case. Even Peter proclaimed in his sermon at Pentecost that repentance comes first and then one can receive the Holy Spirit. The fact that you are so concerned about it is evidence that you belong to Christ and want to be obedient to Him. He understands your situation and is gracious to guide you into receiving this great gift! You need only ask as a child and He will ensure that you receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. Just go before Him with the faith and trust of a child and He will meet you and send you this blessing. Yes, the Holy Spirit infilling and indwelling is accompanied with the gift of speaking in tongues, it is the evidence of His inward dwelling.

Press in, you are not far from the Kingdom of God!

Blessings,
Dr. Danny
